"Unless the Lord
build the house,
they labor in vain who build it!"
Psalm 127:1

In
mid-October, Randy's brother Steve came up to the Skagit Valley
to help with the building. What a blessing it was to have him on
the job, overseeing the subs while Randy was working at Etera
during the days! In the evenings and on weekends, they would work
together on various projects around the house. Here they're
taking a dinner break!

The windows and
doors finally arrived. The night before they were to be
installed, we had visitors again, who "borrowed" two of
the doors! We were thankful they left the more expensive front
door! This, and the rest of the photos on this page are courtesy
of Steve's photography.

In mid-October,
Randy and our friend John Sturm took a week's vacation from their
busy (hectic!) jobs at Etera to do the electrical wiring in the
house. Together with Steve, they worked long and hard hours to
get the job done and pass the electical inspection! Our panel is
a testimony to John's expertise and dedication!

Drywallers begin the long
job of covering the insulation. Bob slaps the stuff in place, and
the rest of the workers come along after and doing the taping and
smoothing. The "ghostly" figure to the right is the gas
fireplace that sits between the kitchen and the great room.

The siders are doing
their work! I wouldn't want to work up on those scaffoldings!
Because we're moving into the wet winter, we may wait to paint
the exterior in the spring, when the paint can cure properly.
Fortunately, the Hardiplank siding is almost the same color of
gray we plan to use!

This is the house as
it looked just before Thanksgiving.
